Curriculum vitae

Strengths

I have well-developed social, communication and numerical skills, and have been proven a competent organiser. I am musically and actively creative and love to share music with others. I am very motivated, able to plan efficiently and finish work to a high standard.

Qualifications

I am currently studying in third year BMus (Music with Computer Sound Design) and the University of Surrey in Guildford.

I attended BETHS Grammar School including sixth form level, gaining A Levels in Music (B), Music Technology (C) and English (C).

Paid Employment

I have worked with the Cambridge Academy of English on two occasions at a summer school in Hitchin, lower Hertfordshire, for students from around the World learning and extending their English. My role was as a Social Activities Organiser, to lead the social activity staff and to be of general help around the school.

I worked in the University post room at Surrey University. This requires rising in the early hours of the morning to quickly and efficiently organise the post that was delivered. It then required me to personally deliver bags and boxes across the University campus to departments and receptions.

I am regularly employed to play the harp at weddings and other events. My prior engagements have included receptions at Charlton Athletic Millennium Suite, Danson Manor House, Bromley Manor, Birchwood Golf Course, Ebbw Vale in Wales and at a Turkish wedding. I advertise my services locally and at the Birchwood Golf Course, and have made the Kentish Times Newspaper headlines for my work in spreading music to younger people.

Voluntary Work

I volunteered as a helper at a disabled scouts group in Woolwich as part of a “Scoutlink” for scouts with physical and mental disabilities. I assisted the group leaders in preparing scout meetings and outings such as day trips to scout functions at Down Camp, Bowling and days out to Charlton Athletic football matches.

For my secondary school work experience I volunteered at “Sunrise Assisted Living,” an organisation that assists people who cannot live without care for up to 24 hours and provide care and facilities for people with Alzheimer’s disease. My job was to organise entertainment and games for their daily activities. These included a successful Snooker Tournament, a day trip to Margate for twenty residents including people with severe Alzheimer’s disease, and my own harp performance for all the residents at the company’s “Queen’s Jubilee” celebrations.

For my University Music Department I have volunteered to be a UCAS open day tour guide and have guided prospective students and parents around the campus.

Hobbies and Interests

I am enormously enthusiastic about music. I play the harp, acoustic and bass guitars, piano, and sing both bass and tenor. I was the Head Chorister at my church organising music for services and helping with the younger members of the choir. I also sang in the RSCM (Royal School of Church Music) for six years. I studied at the Trinity College of Music in Greenwich including harp and music lessons for four years. I played in a Gospel band in Central London, organised a University band performance, and play my harp at weddings, special events and as accompanist for a published poet in poetry concerts.

As part of my University course I am an active music recordist, sound designer, and sound engineer. I have recorded on trains, train stations, London markets, in Guildford Cathedral, the Townley Grammar School choir, many singers and instrumentalists at University and Secondary school, as well as recording myself on the harp, guitar and voice with my own compositions.

I have played badminton for twelve years and am in the University Badminton Squad. We play in the national University Badminton league. I am on the board committee for the University Kart Club and attend weekly kart meetings. I have also played football all my life, play in the Christian Union University football team and was also a regular season ticket holder at Charlton Athletic football club until I came to University.
